Black, Young & Empowered (B.Y.E.) is seeking compassionate, powerful high school and college students ready to advocate and make an impact in their community. You will be working In-person or remotely with our team.

Are you Eligible

You are a student eager to learn and sponsored through your academic organization. Required documentation upon acceptance:

  1. Required documentation for undergraduate or graduate course credit by participating in this internship;

  2. Driver’s License copy;

  3. Resume

  4. Complete the internship forms provided by B.Y.E. with proof of college enrollment and credit with professor signature

There are five (5) different internship opportunities with unique day-to-day experiences! Here are a few example of some of the responsibilities below

Legal Intern

  • Exploring legal research and helping draft memos and reports on topics related to BYE's mission and programs.

  • Assisting with preparing and reviewing legal documents like contracts, agreements, and policies. It's an adventure you won't want to miss!

  • Joining the team that makes fundraising happen! You'll get to research and apply for grants, track donations, and create donor reports that are crucial to BYE's programs' success.

  • Participating in some cool community outreach and engagement initiatives, community events, and educational workshops.

Businessman

Technical Writer Intern

  • Craft compelling content for social media, blogs, and newsletters that make a real impact on the community.

  • Use your editing skills to make existing content shine, from program descriptions to grant proposals and reports.

  • Collaborate with partners and volunteers to keep everyone in the loop, while flexing your writing muscles with fun and creative emails.

  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns that will grab people's attention and get them excited about B.Y.E.'s programs and initiatives.

  • Capture the magic of B.Y.E.'s activities by taking photos, writing summaries of events, and creating engaging reports.

  • Put your grant writing skills to the test by researching funding opportunities, drafting proposals, and submitting applications that could change the game for B.Y.E.

Fashion Store Manager

Administrative Intern

  • Get hands-on experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Put on your fundraising hat and help plan and execute some awesome campaigns and events that support BYE's mission.

  • Build and nurture relationships with donors and sponsors to ensure the longevity of BYE's programs.

  • Assist with grant applications and reporting, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how grants are secured.

  • Support HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, and employee engagement. Help build a positive and inclusive work culture at BYE.

  • Flex your social media muscles and help manage the organization's accounts and website, ensuring that BYE's mission is always front and center.

  • Take on some administrative tasks, like data entry and record-keeping, and see how every little detail helps make a big impact

Youth Conference

Outreach Intern

  • Work with a team of passionate individuals to create and implement programs that support the mental health and well-being of underrepresented youth.

  • Dive deep into research on the unique challenges faced by marginalized youth in accessing mental health services, and use your findings to help design programs that are culturally competent and effective.

  • Get hands-on experience providing direct services to youth, whether it's leading workshops or facilitating support groups.

  • Collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and other organizations to expand access to mental health resources for young people in your community.

  • Use your analytical skills to collect and analyze data on program effectiveness, and use your findings to help improve and refine our services.

  • Participate in community outreach and advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and wellness, and advocate for policies that support the needs of young people.

Advocacy Intern

  • Researching and analyzing social justice and civil rights issues affecting young people in the community

  • Planning and coordinating engaging community events and initiatives to address social justice and civil rights issues

  • Creating and delivering educational programs and workshops to empower youth on social justice and civil rights topics

  • Collaborating with like-minded organizations and community stakeholders to advance social justice and civil rights causes

  • Assisting with fundraising efforts to support BYE's impactful programs and initiatives in the field

  • Organizing and managing program materials and data entry tasks to keep BYE running smoothly.
